If I don't work, I don't eat

The Lie I Told Myself

Just as He was the provider for Abraham presenting the ram in the bush for sacrifice, and for Elijah on the mountain side, and as Jesus fed the five thousand. He is a provider for me and you.

Never get caught up in the lie that your provision is by your hand and not the hand of God.

The Temper Tantrum

Last week as I was on the phone with one of my really great friends; she was trying to give her 2 year old his cup, but he was crying and rejecting the cup – without even knowing what was in it. As he threw his tantrum, she made the off handed comment that he was missing his blessing because he was refusing to receive what she, his mother, was trying to give. At two, he didn’t realize she had a greater understanding and knew what he needed.

How many of us are like that?

Last week we talked about the importance of doing a heart detox in the new year. Taking a break from the toxic stuff we see, what we say, and places we go, both mentally and physically. This week we’re focused on resolution number #3: Keep Saying What God Says.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 “‘This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save […]

Started From The Bottom

Many times in our bottom moments, we must shift our focus from what we see to what we know, because what we know is not always what we see. That is what it means to have faith. No matter what you may be experiencing, change your perspective. If you are frustrated, as I was, change your perspective. If you are dealing with lack, change how you look at the lack. When you look at what you know as a follower of Christ, you are prepared to face and walk through anything life gives you in your bottom moments. Anything. Because when you do, you realize you are not walking alone.

The Purposeful Christian

Just as God has a plan for humanity, He has a purpose for you. God called you forth and set you apart not to dim your light, but so that you can be a light to others (Matt.5:13-16). As Christians, we all share the same purpose.

Expectation v. Reality

So here are the hard questions: Is God a sadistic God? No, scripture says He is a loving (1 John 4:6-8), just (Psalms 25:8), and holy (Leviticus 11:44-45) God. Did the Disciples suffer needlessly? No, through their suffering what started out as a small group of followers grew into the salvation of billions through the ages as the Gospel of Jesus Christ spread. So, in reality, is there a purpose for your suffering or hard times? Yes. You have a cross and a purpose and many times they go hand in hand.

Imitation of Christ

That's What He Said

According to His words, Jesus claimed to represent God. Not only was this deemed sacrilegious, He went one step further to declare that there was no other way to access the Father and presumably Heaven unless through Him. That’s what He said. But what does that mean? And what does that mean for those that don’t believe He was Christ the Messiah?

As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.  Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what […]

When The Lord Speaks It

Often times, God will tell us who we are and what we will do even before we know ourselves. He will reveal His promise before we ever thought we were capable or even knew it was a desire of our heart.
