Things Eternal
On Friday, I had the privilege to volunteer for a hospice program at a nearby nursing home. When I was given the opportunity to choose where I would volunteer, I immediately knew it would be there (years before I was a hospice volunteer). There is something humbling about being given the opportunity to spend time with someone, stranger or not, whose journey is nearing the end. It’s humbling because you recognize your own humanity and just how finite this physical life actually is.

“While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my bothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are […]

Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for […]

That’s what He told me. Those were the very words whispered to my spirit and with those words; He took me to the cross. He took me to Jesus. It may look like all doors were closed on Good Friday. It’s been very humbling and has allowed me to see the other side of giving: the receiver’s perspective. Christ understood that by giving we receive the greatest return on investment and one day we to may need to receive the kindness of strangers.

I Can Only Imagine
Yesterday I experienced something I had never experienced before. I attended a Christian hip-hop concert, the Unashamed Tour with LeCrae, Trip Lee, Tedashii and other artists. I was baptized in 1999 and through all the church services and revivals I have attended since then, I can honestly say I have never experienced anything more reflective of the diverse body of Christ than I did last night – at a rap concert. Every nationality was represented, male and female, young and old all together to praise and worship. Only one can unite like that. JESUS.

I've Been Changed
Have any of you felt that way? You know God has spoken something to you, spoken the vision of a new you, but others won’t let you grow into that vision? Or perhaps others encourage you to grow, but you yourself are grasping to hold onto the old you? Or perhaps you are like Peter? Christ has spoken the vision for your life and although you act as if you understand, you haven’t experienced the other side of the cross to even know exactly what has been spoken to you? I understand.
